The report covers the social-environmental benefits associated with the adoption of biotechnology in Brazil, considering three periods. Firstly, the period from 1996/97 to 2009/10 will be examined, then it will be compared to the benefits achieved in the 2008/09 and 2009/10 crop seasons, and finally, the future period between 2009/10 and 2019/20 will be analyzed. For the analyses of the social and the environmental benefits effected during the periods mentioned above, available and already marketed events in Brazil were considered, namely: herbicide-tolerant soybean, insect-resistant cotton, herbicide-tolerant cotton and corn resistant to insects.
