In recent years genetically modified plants produced through modern biotechnology have made it possible to continue the benefits of the Green Revolution while at the same time diminishing the detrimental environmental impact of agriculture. Following a litterature review, it is observed that transgenic crops are as safe to eat as any food, they can provide many benefits (economic, yields, health), they are not harmful to the environment, they can contribute to food stability and security and they do not encourage further industrialization of agriculture at the expense of biodiversity.
