The potential benefits of transgenic rootworm corn are expected to include: increased root protection; economic and intangible benefits to farmers; reduced corn stalk rot; and increased yield protection. If transgenic rootworm corn is widely planted, the impact will be a reduction of insecticide use; increased resource and water conservation; conservation of aviation fuel; reduced farm waste; increased planting efficiency; and improved safety to wildlife and other nontarget organisms.
