Abstract or Summary

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) released a scientific opinion on the safety of herbicide tolerant oilseed rape MON 88302. According to EFSA, there were no significant differences observed between oilseed rape MON 88302 and its conventional counterpart, except for days-to-first flowering. The difference in days-to-first flowering could be due to the genetic variability in the genetic background of the Ebony population or to an unintended effect due to the genetic transformation process. EFSA also found no differences in the composition of oilseed rape. There was also no evidence that the genetic modification affected the toxicity and allergenicity of oilseed rape.
